Start by measuring across the fullest part of your chest. That’s your bust measurement! For your waist measurement, measure around the natural waistline (where you would cinch a dress or blouse to get that hourglass shape!). For hips, measure around the fullest part of your hips.
Sweep Train: Just brushes the ground behind your dress, usually about 6in beyond the hem. Court Train: A court train extends 12in beyond the dress hem. Chapel Train: Extends 12-18in behind the bride. This is the most popular train length! Semi-Cathedral Train: This type of train will extend anywhere from 22-34in. Cathedral Train: Extends more than 34-46in behind a dress for a formal, royal look.
Lace: The most popular fabric, lace is woven from silk or cotton and is diverse in pattern, texture, and weight. From Chantilly lace to Venise, it’s loved by brides everywhere. Organza: Sheer and lightweight like chiffon, but organza holds more of a shape. It has a lustrous finish and crisp drape. Traditionally woven from silk. Satin: Characterized by the sheen, drape, and fabric feel, it’s heavy and smooth to the touch. Satin refers to the silk finish but can also be made of poly or a fabric blend. Silk: Known for its subtle shine. Silk can come in a variety of textures. Chiffon: Light, airy, weightless. Made from woven silk or rayon, it’s a popular fabric for boho and ethereal styles. Tulle: Sheere, open, airy and delicate. Commonly seen with illusion styles and cut-outs. Taffeta: Taffeta’s stiff nature is made from silk or synthetic fibers. It has a constructed quality to it and can sometimes look iridescent.
Above the Knee: From mini to falling just above the knee. Knee-Length: More conservative, this length falls just at the knee or just below the knee. Cocktail: Anywhere from above the knee for casual occasions, or just below the knee for more formal events. Midi: This dress length hits right in the middle of the lower leg. Maxi: Maxi dresses will fall generally just above one’s shoes. Floor-Length: Floor-length dresses cover the shoes and fall to the floor, either just brushing the floor or sweeping into a train.
