The fourth of July is not only a gorgeous day to celebrate the amazing country that we are rooted in, but it is also an incredibly fun holiday with all the peak summer vibes. Right from the lovely summer vibes, the charming hues of red, blue, and white, the neighborhood barbeques, and the burst of fireworks, there is a lot to love about the Fourth of July! Whether your wedding day just accidentally collided with the festival or it was a very intentional decision, hosting a Fourth of July wedding is nothing but a barrel of fun. From the red, blue, and white wedding details sprinkled around the wedding theme to fun summer activities, a fourth of July wedding promises to be a load of fun. What else can you expect from a festival which includes fireworks?
If you and your sweetheart are patriotic, in love with the Fourth of July, or just found yourself planning to tie the knot around the festival, here are some fun examples that you can explore! With a little inspiration and a lot of planning, you can turn your fourth of July wedding into an absolute dream!
Invite with flair: Your save the dates are the first step in planning your wedding, and in this case, your July 4th wedding theme. So kick off your wedding theme by informing your guests that you chose Independence Day to declare your independence from single life and married your closest friend. Make sure to include red, white, and blue in your save the dates and invitations. You don't have to go all out with your stationery, like splattering fireworks all over the invitations, but a splash of color is nice.
Wear your patriotism: In most cases, you might still want to wear your traditional white bridal gown to your July 4th wedding. However, a flash of color, such as blue high heels, can be added. Your bridesmaids can wear blue and carry a bouquet of red roses. You can always add a little red, white, and blue to your garter if you want something modest. The groom and his groomsmen can then dress up in classic suits or tuxedos. However, they can complete the look with red, white, and blue suspenders or patriotic flag socks.
A romantic cake: Is it possible to go patriotic while still being romantic? The inclusion of red and white blossoms will enhance the beauty of a semi-naked cake accentuated with blueberries and white icing. This is a subtle way of embracing the colors without going full patriotic with flag details. The lovely color scheme is ideal for an Independence Day celebration which is also a celebration of love. An amazing alternative is to commit to berries for your dessert. It's like a match made in heaven already! A mix of raspberries and blueberries on a white wedding cake is something that you can't possibly go wrong with! In other news, naked cakes are all the rage right now, so why not go for a crowd-pleaser like red velvet? A lively and trendy stripe theme is created by the vibrant poppy hue and clean lines of vanilla icing. For an attractive finishing touch, add a few flowers, such as these red poppies.
A patriotic palette: Keep the palette in mind as you plan your wedding details, whether it is with industrial red chairs, navy tablecloths, and crisp white table runners. You can go for details like romantic red roses, blue and white Moroccan tableware, and some additional gold details for finesse. Oh, and the white umbrellas add the perfect backyard-inspired touch. While none of these colors are too difficult to include on a wedding day, it wouldn't be too difficult to include these festive colors on your special day.
Festive cocktails: The easiest way to incorporate a wedding theme? With festive cocktails! There is nothing like cocktails done up in fun colors, quirky fixings, and specific flavors which speaks to us quite the same way. Add a red-colored base, luscious blackberries, and our personal favorite edible flowers to your trademark drink. These summery drinks are a fun and photogenic addition that your guests will love.
Rosy disposition: There is something about roses that is heartbreakingly romantic and idyllic and coincidently goes swimmingly with the theme. The single monotone bloom featured in a hanging installation makes such a statement and is insanely romantic as its red rose, obviously. Red rose is an easy color to incorporate when it comes to wedding themes because red roses have a way of doing the job without breaking a sweat!
Find the perfect venue: If you're looking for the perfect venue for your Fourth of July wedding, go for something rustic and Americana. Old barns, fields, and farmhouses come to mind. A location with a clear outside area and a view of a downtown area would be fantastic if the downtown area was putting on a fireworks display that night. That way, you may have fireworks during your wedding without having to use any of your own explosives. Looking for a space by a lake or waterbody is a great idea too, as it will reflect the fireworks beautifully, adding to the magic of your wedding day.
July 4th Wedding Decorations: You can go as simple or as extravagant as you desire when it comes to decorating. It is, after all, America. No one will accuse you of going too far. Consider red, white, and blue paper lanterns, red chairs with white tablecloths, white chairs with red and blue tablecloths, blue napkins, and this Red, White, and I Do banner for décor ideas. Star speckled desserts, stationeries, and confetti are just some of the many ideas.
Festive centerpieces: For some lovely July 4th wedding centerpieces, you could go for a bit of Americana with reflective plates with apples and carnations in vases, or just go for red, white, and blue flowers in vases of varying sizes and forgo the apples. You could also paint the vases white and then fill them with blue and red flowers. Another fun idea is to have wedding centerpieces themed around fireworks and stars, making for a gorgeous display.
For the dessert table: When it comes to dessert, nothing beats a slice of fruit pie at a 4th of July gathering. Instead of the usual wedding cake, serve a delectable peach, strawberry rhubarb, blackberry, and lemon meringue buffet. Fill paper cones with delicious caramel corn or caramel-flavored Chex mix for more dessert variety. Summer weddings can also include individual strawberry shortcakes or fresh scones with jam.
Wedding guestbook: Finish the patriotic wedding look with a guest book that complements the theme. A guest book with stars and hearts is ideal, as it is perfect for the theme and also very cute. Leave a pen near the book for guests to sign a star. Of course, the hearts go to you and your husband. The only thing I'd modify is that the ampersand should be blue rather than red. This would be a lovely addition to your home after your wedding.
Flower power for the occasion: The only thing you truly need is a bridal bouquet, but flower bridesmaid props, centerpieces, and archways are optional. Alternatively, you can save money by solely utilizing edible flowers as cocktail decorations rather than venue design. For a patriotic arrangement, combine privet, hydrangeas, and alstroemeria in a vase with little American flags. Daisies in red, white, and blue colors make lovely wreaths and bouquets.
Summer lawn games: Keep your dress code casual at your 4th of July wedding so that your guests can enjoy a variety of lawn games. The wooden signs can be used for directing guests on the proper route! It's no longer only badminton and horseshoes. Modern tabletop games like Jenga, Yahtzee, and even Scrabble are now included in lawn games. The majority of these are basic DIY projects that you and your soon-to-be husband may work on together!
Elegant table setting: The tablescape lifts the red, white, and blue too much more sophisticated heights with rich hues and luxurious textures. The palette is delicate and romantic, with deep indigo linens, brooding burgundy hellebores, chocolate cosmos, creamy garden roses, rust-hued foliage, and gold-accented crystal. This place setting is a fun twist on the traditional white table linens, thanks to the vibrant pattern combination. Don't be put off by the prospect of replicating this brilliantly mismatched ensemble! Begin with a larger pattern, such as the blue ikat, and pair it with a smaller print.
Do a patriotic favor: Guests will appreciate these practical gifts as they party in the summer heat, regardless of the type of wedding you have planned. Beer koozies personalized with your wedding date and names will keep beverages colder for longer and maybe reused for many years. Sparklers in the shape of hearts are ideal for photography and make for a fun evening activity for people of all ages. The bang of fireworks, the sizzle of BBQs, and other sounds abound during a 4th of July wedding. As a result, a 4th of July paper firecracker treat stuffed with candy, party hats, little bottles of alcohol, and eco-friendly confetti is a wonderful fit for the theme.
A flag for the day: An American flag is a must-have for a Fourth of July wedding. A huge billowing flag hung from the wall, or tiny flag details speckled throughout the wedding decor, you can never go wrong with it. While it looks right at home whether it's presented as a photo booth or set up in a maritime setting. Something about a billowing flag, the sense of freedom in the air, and the blue water beckoning your name on a high summer day, a nautical wedding theme feels just perfect for a patriotic celebration. If a reception at sea isn't your thing, a pleasant boat cruising off into the horizon for a memorable send-off can be a better option.
Summer picnic bash: With mismatched chairs, huge tables covered in your grandmother's old tablecloths, and plenty of white string lights, you may go for 'picnic chic.' Place bowls of freshly picked berries at each place setting for your guests to enjoy in the warm weather. Keep your food buffet simple with a sack lunch buffet for your picnic-themed celebration. This is a pretty straightforward and convenient way to serve your guests, especially if you decide to have an event with picnic blankets as seating. Stack wax paper-wrapped sandwiches, plastic containers packed with various salads, chips bags, and crudites and dip boxes. Allow them to carry their treats in brown paper bags, trays, or tiny baskets.
A barbeque for the lovers: A BBQ is the epitome of "Fourth of July" and a wedding around the date will be incomplete without a barbeque which is a firm nod to all things nostalgic. Bring in all of your favorite summer flavors with this fan-favorite late-night snack. For a more involved approach, hire a food truck to provide savory snacks, or set up a s'mores station. Even better? Arrange for a firework display after dinner, followed by an outdoor movie-watching arrangement!
Sparkling send-off: No 4th of July wedding would be perfect without a sparkler send-off, of course. The photo above is one of my all-time favorite sparkler photos. However, it may be difficult to gather guests for a sparkler send-off at the end of the night because they were having a lot of fun on the dance floor and appreciating the band. Set them up at the entrance of your venue or at every guest's seat with a little When Sparks Fly sign on them to let your guests know you're having sparklers.
Fourth of July is surely a patriotic holiday, but it is certainly more than just that. From sizzling barbeques to twinkling fireworks, it has an air of celebration to it, which will only add to your own personal celebrations. Hosting a July wedding around the Fourth of July is not only a tribute to the country, but is also a tribute to the country and love. We hope our ideas help you create the most fascinating fourth of July wedding possible.
